Thank you very much for your support of HR 5821, the Military Honor and Decency Act. HR 5821 (Military Honor & Decency Act) would close the existing loophole in current law that allows obvious pornography to be sold on military installations around the country and the world (at taxpayers' expense, no less). In short, Rep. Broun's bill would lower the threshold required to deem material sexually explicit, would add specific definitions in statute for nudity and lascivious, and would require the DoD to annually review material to determine if it should be prohibited. This language would close the statutory loophole and right a bureaucratic and moral wrong. Furthermore, every additional cosponsor increases pressure on the DoD to enforce the current law.

A groundswell of support for HR 5821 is the best way to end this corrosive practice. It is imperative that more Members of Congress (both Democrats and Republicans) become cosponsors of this legislation, so that support and momentum builds for House Leadership to pass this legislation.
